MEMBERS of Ben Rhydding Methodist church are honing their origami skills in order to create one thousand paper doves.
The dove is a traditional symbol of peace and the one thousand paper doves will form part of an exhibition featuring a collection of embroideries under the title of Peace and Reconciliation.
The embroideries are the work of the late Pamela Pavitt, a nationally recognized teacher and practitioner of weaving and creative embroidery who carried out many commissions for churches and other institutions. “Peace and reconciliation are desperately needed in the world today” said Ben Rhydding’s Methodist minister Rev. Vicky Atkins, “and we hope that lots of people will come along to see how art is used to express the hope and desire for a more peaceful society.”
The exhibition will be open from Tuesday April 9 to Saturday, April 13 from 1pm. to 5pm.
