HELPERS are being sought to raise the Chevin Cross above Otley next month.
The 36ft high monument will be pulled into place on Surprise View on Saturday, April 6.
Organisers Churches Together in Otley are needed to help both with the loading of the cross, in town, and then the assembling and raising of it on the Chevin.
It will be loaded for transportation on Courthouse Street at 9am, and put together and lifted on Surprise View from 9.30am.
The cross was the brainchild of the Otley Council of Christian Churches and has stood on the Chevin for almost every Easter - going up two weeks before and coming down a fortnight later - for the past 50 years.
A special commemorative booklet to mark its half century (The Chevin Cross - Otley, 1968-2018) was produced last year.
A 7am service, open to all, will be held at the foot of the cross on Easter Sunday, April 21.
