A GROUP of young cyclists from Wharfedale are celebrating success in a national competition.
Junior members of Otley Cycle Club competed in the British Schools Cycling Association National Roller Racing Championships last weekend - and excelled.
The indoor event took place at Farsley Farfield Primary School on Sunday, March 3 and involved competitors pedalling on fixed rollers over 500m and 1000m distances.
The club’s publicity officer, Jill Birch, said: “Riding indoors on rollers during winter is a great way of training safely and this paid off handsomely for the Middlebrooke family - with Emily and Daniel Middlebrooke winning Gold medals to become National Champions.
“Emily also won the Team Gold, along with Poppy Peacock and Isobel Wilks. And, in what was a successful day for the entire team, all of our riders achieved personal best times.”
