THE British Transport Police have issued a statement confirming that the person who died on the Wharfedale railway line on Sunday was a woman in her 60s.
The statement said: "Officers were called to Burley-in-Wharfedale station at 9.56am following reports of casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, but sadly a woman aged in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
All trains from Bradford Forster Square to Ilkley were cancelled after the incident was notified to British Transport Police.
A spokesman for Northern said they were alerted by a train driver on the approach to Burley-in-Wharfedale.
