A HIGH-RANKING Leeds Bradford Airport official will speak at a public meeting in Menston to explain proposed airspace changes.

The event will take place at Kirklands Community Centre on Wednesday, February 27 - with sessions taking place from 3.30pm to 5pm and 7pm to 8.30pm. It has been organised by Menston Parish Council and Menston Community Association.

Alan Elsegood from the community association said: “In view of the dismay of Menston residents about a consultation process they see as having been defective, and insofar as they can’t decipher what the Airspace Change Proposal contains, I have asked the Head of Air Traffic Services, Jim Wylie, to address a public meeting to explain what is proposed and how it will affect people. Another problem is that the LBA Proposal has already gone to the CAA, and it feels as though we’re being told what we’re going to get, without having had proper opportunity to be informed or genuinely consulted on something which could last for many years and could have effects upon this community which we can’t currently predict. “
