STUNNING photographs have impressed the judges at Aireborough Camera Club’s new competition, the Winter Open.

Organisers say the competition had a large and varied entry.

The club’s vice president Chris Owens said: “The judges, club committee and sponsors as usual found the judging difficult but enjoyable.

“There were a large number of very beautiful, thoughtful and amusing images. The title Travel and Landscape certainly inspired some very clever and creative photography.”

The competition winners were presented with their prizes and certificates at the club’s weekly meeting earlier this month at Guiseley Theatre.

The Secondary Section was won by talented young photographer Joe Griffin with his image of The Buckle. Blue Residential presented the prize, a cheque for £50 and a confectionary hamper.

There were three awards in the Adult Section. First and second prizes were awarded to Philip Atkinson for his images. Morgan Travel presented the first prize of a £100 holiday voucher for his picture of Entrance to 99 Chickens Temple. The second prize of a canvas print of his image of Local Women on the Way to Prayer was presented by Jessops.

Jessops also presented the third prize of a canvas print to Sally Sallett for her image Beside the sea.

Mr Owens said: “The sponsors were so pleased with the entry to and results of the competition and will be sponsoring it again at the end of this year.

“Do not forget our Summer Open Competition to be launched in June this year.”
