ILKLEY resident Kath Steward has been chosen to contest the Ilkley seat for Labour in the upcoming Bradford Council Elections in May.
Ms Steward, a retired GP, has lived in the town for nearly 20 years bringing up her family of four children. She said: “Ilkley is a beautiful place to live with a strong sense of community. I want Ilkley to continue to thrive for the current residents and for future generations. As your Labour Councillor I will seek creative solutions to the problems created by financial constraints while campaigning to end austerity.
“We must also create a just transition to a sustainable, climate resilient town which reduces its carbon footprint by 50 per cent in the next 12 years and to zero by 2050. I want to work with everyone in Ilkley so that together we can meet this challenge.”
Ilkley’s Labour MP, John Grogan added: “Kath knows Ilkley very well. She is involved in a number of local campaign groups and is a committed environmentalist. If elected she will be a superb champion for Ilkley and Ben Rhydding.”
