AUTHOR Diane Setterfield will be upstairs at The Flying Duck on Church Street, Ilkley on Thursday, January 31to celebrate the launch of her new book Once Upon a River.

Set in an inn on the banks of the Thames, on Midwinter’s Night 1899, it tells the story of a child pulled from the river having apparently drowned, only to come miraculously back to life. It's an eerie tale of science and superstition, reminiscent of The Essex Serpent. Diane's first novel, The Thirteenth Tale, was hugely successful and was made into a TV film starring Vanessa Redgrave and Olivia Coleman, and this promises to be just as popular.

The event is at 1pm and tickets are £5, available on 01943 609335 or info@grovebookshop.com This includes £3 off the book, which retails for £12.99.
