A MIXED voice choir based in Burley-in-Wharfedale, is looking for new singers.

The Fairfax Singers has a local reputation for an eclectic repertoire of music for all tastes.

Fairfax Singers secretary Corine Thuilliez said: “Following a busy Christmas season, singing in Leeds, Bradford, Shipley and Ilkley, helping to raise funds for various charities, we are now planning for this New year.

“We are looking to augment the choir by two singers in each section ie. soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

“If you think you may like to join us we can arrange a friendly, informal audition to see if this could be the choir for you, and vice versa.

“You do not need to be an outstanding singer!

“Interested? Phone our MD on 01943 877464.”

The Fairfax Singers has some 36 members who have been performing a variety of choral music since its foundation in 1996.

The choir’s repertoire includes folk songs, spirituals, classical and sacred music, as well as choral items by contemporary composers. Lighter music includes songs from the shows such as Lloyd Webber and Elton John, and the classic Golden Oldies of Gershwin, Cole Porter and Jerome Kern.

Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays 7.30pm to 9.30pm at SS Fisher and More Catholic Church Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale.
