SCHOOL students in Otley have been collecting food to help ensure others have a Merry Christmas.

Sixth Formers at Prince Henry’s set up their own drop-off point at school after hearing that a flood had ruined many of the donations that were being stored for Otley Food Bank.

Student Jack Preston said: “As it’s coming up to Christmas we understand that, for some families, money is tight.

“That’s why, when we heard what had happened, we decided to create a food bank station at Prince Henry’s so students could bring one or two items to help others.

“We have been really impressed with how supportive students have been and by the level of donations!”

Student Leadership and Post-16 Manager, Mrs Robinson-Junni, said: “We are really grateful to the Rotary Club of Otley Chevin who have been supporting the project and offering advice on how to successfully market and run the appeal.

“The Christmas Food Bank Project is a part of the ASDAN Level 3 in Personal Effectiveness which allows young people to build the skills they will need as they prepare for future study or work.”
