CHORISTERS sang their hearts out during a candlelit festival of nine lessons and carols.

Under the direction of Carol Rees Field, choristers delighted a large congregation at St Thomas' Church, Rhyl, with a selection of Christmas music.

Music included John Rutter's famous Star Carol and the "beautiful" Little Road to Bethlehem by Michael Head.

Mrs Field, on behalf of the choir, was presented with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of this being her 45th Christmas effort.

Long serving senior chorister Linda Robbins was also presented with flowers in appreciation of her 43 years of service.

Mrs Field said: "The customary first verse of the opening carol Once in Royal David's city was made special by the singing of father Mark Gardiner and his 11 year old daughter Chloe.

"Mark has been a member of the choir for many years, being head chorister in 1989 and was, at that time, a semi finalist in the Choirboy of the Year national competition."

The choristers now have a busy schedule, visiting several of Rhyl’s residential homes along with a Christmas wedding participation, the church’s Midnight Eucharist and Christmas morning services.

Mrs Field added: "The nine lessons went off fantastically well. The choristers work so hard."
