A REVAMPED day room has been officially opened at the Leeds Liver Unit.
The Cabin at St James’ University Hospital is intended to give patients a relaxed space to enjoy, away from ward J83’s clinical environment.
The social area’s woodland appearance was created by Imageco based on ideas supplied by young patients. The Cabin was funded by the Lyth family who have been raising money for the unit since Phil and Patrice Lyn’s daughter, Naomi - who was a liver patient at Leeds - passed away.
Clinical Director for Abdominal Medicine and Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Richard Baker, said: “We understand how important it is for patients to have their own space away from the bustle of the ward. This is particularly important for our young adults who are making the transition to adult services.”
