CHILDREN will be able to walk into a Winter Wonderland at Eccup next month.

The Donkey Sanctuary is transforming its yard for its Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 2.

The family-focused event, which is free to enter, takes place at the charity’s Swan Lane centre from 10am to 3pm.

As well as meeting the resident donkeys visitors will be able enjoy a bouncy castle and a selection of gala games.

The centre’s Market Hall, meanwhile, will be filled with local trade and charity stalls along with a tombola, bric-a-brac stall and raffle.

Santa Claus will also be paying a visit and seeing children in his grotto for a small fee, while hot and cold refreshments will be available in the Food Hall.

And information will be available about the the donkey-facilitated learning programme that the centre delivers - and its Adopt a Donkey scheme.

A Donkey Sanctuary spokesman said: “Adopting a donkey makes the perfect Christmas gift and enables the charity to continue reaching donkeys across the world.

“Visitors can chose from three adoption donkeys at the Leeds centre: Billy O, Harbin and Ripple. There will also be a special photo booth to give people the chance to take some unique seasonal pictures.”.

Proceeds will support the charity’s work locally - its Eccup base provides free donkey-assisted therapy to children with additional needs - and worldwide.
