STAFF are celebrating after a Guiseley care home was classed as Good in all areas by the Care Quality Commission.

Anchor’s Primrose Court on Orchard Way, which cares for 33 residents, was praised by the CQC after an unannounced inspection in October. Care homes are classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.

Manager Joanne Lawrence said everyone at the home was thrilled because they had worked so hard to maintain high standards of care.

She added: “We have worked hard to make Primrose Court a good care home but to be given such praise from the regulator is wonderful. We are proud of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and the high levels of training and support our staff receive.

“We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country. We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care home - we’ll be celebrating this success.”

The CQC inspection report, which can be found on the regulator’s website, highlighted a number of examples of high standards of care at Primrose Court.

The report says: “The environment was homely, warm and

welcoming. People’s rooms were personalised.

“People appeared happy and relaxed in staff company and we noted good relationships between staff and people who used the service. Relatives we spoke with praised the care and told us their relations were well looked after. Staff were committed to ensuring people received good quality and personal support. People were supported to make day to day decisions and were involved in care plan reviews. People’s privacy and dignity were respected and staff promoted and encouraged independence.”
