A NEW memorial bench at Pool-in-Wharfedale has been blessed.

The seating was donated by Pool Parish Council to commemorate this year’s centenary of the First World War’s Armistice, and has a plaque that reads ‘Remember Together 11th November 2018’.

Rev David Wheeler, from St Wilfrid’s Church, blessed the bench on Remembrance Sunday when he was joined by parish councillors including council Chair Hazel Lee.

Rev Wheeler had earlier led the town’s Remembrance service and a ceremony at the Cenotaph where hundreds of wooden crosses and origami cranes - made by Pool C of E Primary School pupils and church members - were laid, along with poppy wreaths.
