A WYKE shop's request for a licence to sell alcohol will be decided by Councillors next week.

And one local councillor has warned that granting the licence would increase anti social behaviour in the area.

Barzan Hussein submitted the licensing application for Nyla Stores on Drake Fold, asking for permission to sell alcohol between 8am and midnight.

A decision will be made by the Bradford District Licensing Panel at 11am on Wednesday.

Wyke Councillor David Warburton has objected to the application. In a letter to the panel he said: "As there have been a number of anti social behaviour incidents within this area with youths and school age children, the opportunity to have the provision in such a close proximity to areas where incidents have occurred needs to be controlled.

"Allowing this application to be granted is supporting these actions, not protecting vulnerable residents."

Another resident of Wyke has also objected to the application, saying it would increase anti-social behaviour.

Last month plans for an off licence in Manningham were approved, despite a number of neighbours raising similar concerns about potential anti-social behaviour.
