AN OTLEY pub is celebrating winning a Loo of the Year Award.

The Bowling Green, on Bondgate, has been awarded a platinum rating for the quality and standards of its toilets.

Loo of the Year Awards inspectors made unannounced visits to thousands of toilets across the UK this year.

All of the facilities were then graded from bronze to platinum, with those deemed unacceptable not graded at all.

The platinum rating is only given to outlets which offer ‘exceptional’ toilets in terms of everything from décor to cleanliness and accessibility.

The manager of The Bowling Green (a Wetherspoon pub), Rebekah Black, said: “We are delighted. Staff ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great this has been recognised.”

Managing Director of The Loo of the Year Awards 2018, Mike Bone, added: “The Bowling Green richly deserves its platinum award - the highest individual award the judges can deliver.”
