A FILM about a wildlife inspired community project at Menston has received its premiere.
Flights and Wings, by Roy Vickers, was shown for the first time at Rawdon Conservative Club on Wednesday, October 31.
The film documents the work behind a scheme that involved Menston Primary School pupils creating 20 bird boxes and ten bat boxes.
A collaboration on behalf of Menston Community Association, Menston Co-operative Society, the school and Friends of Highroyds Memorial Gardens, it was presented by Roy and Jean Vickers from Mercury Movie Makers.
Former Menston Community Association Chair Dr Steve Ellams said: "We had a a great turn out. The film has now been posted up on You Tube - at https://youtu.be/UN4TgG8cq9k - and is available on the Menston Facebook page.
"Within 24 hours we had more than one hundred hits and the general feedback has been that it was a really worthwhile community initiative.
"It is hoped to provide the film to other schools and to the BBC's Springwatch/Autumnwatch.
"Thanks to Roy Vickers, his wife Jean, Emma Nabarro-Steel and Mercury Films, bat and bird experts Maggie Brown and Peter Roe, and the schoolchildren."
