A TEAM from Ilkley swimming club competed in the Bradford Dolphins friendship gala at Shipley pool - a team event of relay races - and won, against four other swimming clubs - Bradford Swimming Club, Bradford Dolphins Swimming Club, Bingley Swimming Club and Dewsbury Swimming Club. The team consisted of over 35 members from under 10s to an open age group for age 15 and over. This is notable achievement considering that the club has been without its permanent home since July, while repairs are made to Ilkley pool’s roof. The club is having to train at other pools around the area, meaning up to three hour round trips for some members and much less pool time that normal. Despite this, there were some excellent performances and encouragement for team mates at the pool.
It is hoped that the pool will reopen by the end of November, which would end the months of uncertainty for the club.
