A WOMAN was killed in Ilkley yesterday after a road traffic collision with a bus.

The police received a call at 3.23pm from the ambulance service to reports of the collision involving a bus and a female.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service received the initial call at 3.16pm and despatched two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the air ambulance.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers were called at 3.23pm to Brook Street to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a single-decker bus.

"The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, died as a result of her injuries.

"The driver of the bus remained at the scene and has been helping officers with their enquiries.

"The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene. 

"Detectives in the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the collision to contact police."
