AN OTLEY schoolgirl has won the Yorkshire Young Writer of the Year 2018 award.
Eleven year old Eva was in Year Six at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School when she took part in the Broughton Hall Children’s Literature Festival competition.
She was up against thousands of Key Stage 2 students from more than 200 schools who submitted stories.
The participants had each been given an opening line from which they had to write a short story.
Eva’s winning entry, and tales by three other St Joseph’s pupils who excelled - Timo, Matilde and Leona - will feature in a Yorkshire Young Writer of the Year book.
Headteacher Cecilia Knight said: “We are so proud of their achievements.”
