CHILDREN and people over 50 will be helped to keep fit after a £4,000 grant to Guiseley AFC’s Community Foundation.

The foundation’s chairman Phil Rogerson said: “It is great news that we have been successful in our bid to Morrisons. It was great thrill to discover that our bid with the Morrison’s Foundation had been successful and to the tune of £4,000.

“This will allow us to start a project targeted at Year 6 pupils with a view to getting them to enjoy sport and physical activity. This will help combat obesity, which is all too prevalent at that age, and hopefully we can give them greater confidence as they progress to the big world of secondary education.

“We will also be using some of the money to encourage adults who are 50 plus to take more exercise, be that simply walking more or getting involved in low impact activities such as Walking Football. We are extremely grateful to the Morrison’s Foundation without whom none of this would be possible.”
