A GRANT of nearly £5,000 has been made to support riverside tree maintenance in Pool-in-Wharfedale.
The money, awarded by the Leeds Outer North West Community Committee, will help Pool Recreation Ground Management Committee's (RGMC) work in Pool Riverside Park.
Councillors Barry and Caroline Anderson (both Con, Adel & Wharfedale), who are committee members, said they were delighted to see the bid for £4,950 succeed.
Cllr Barry Anderson said: "Pool RGMC are a very important organisation in the fabric of the village and surrounding area.
"The grounds they have to look after are vast and it is very expensive to keep up all the maintenance required.
"The money will go towards management of the trees running alongside the River Wharfe - an area very popular with walkers, and the school children also use it as part of their outdoor learning.
"The trees have become unsafe with recent storms and they need to be maintained."
Cllr Caroline Anderson added: "This area enhances the many local activities available in Pool and work can now be carried out so that recreational activities can continue and access to the footpath can be maintained."
