A NEW monthly comedy night is launching in Ilkley on Sunday, September 23 at The Ilkley Moor Vaults. Organiser and MC Robson Stroud has been the regular House Manager to a bi-monthly comedy night at Ilkley Playhouse for eight years but wanted to offer something different on early Sunday nights. He is delighted to book as the headliner on the first night cult-Canadian comedian Bobby Mair.

Bobby has something to offer audiences of all ages and has been seen nationally on shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats, Nevermind The Buzzcocks, The Hour, and Russell Howard’s Good News.

Robson said: “I’ve been to watch and perform comedy in many bars and theatres across the North of England and you’re usually not getting the best rooms and the best choice of drinks or the option to buy any decent snacks. By holding a comedy night at a quirky and charming gastropub like the The Ilkley Moor Vaults we’ve got the benefit of our own function room with 100 comfy seats, a brilliant beer garden with all-weather igloos, and a choice of drinks that would rival any up-market bar or city centre café. I’m going to fight hard to make this a venue for the best comedians on the circuit to visit and I’d love the support of the Wharfedale comedy-crowd.”

Robson has also booked a strong ‘supporting undercard’ of comics he has handpicked himself for the evening including the highly-rated young Otley comedian Jim Bayes and the massively popular Italian comedienne Carla Pol.
