MP Alex Sobel will be holding a series of coffee mornings around his constituency this month.

Mr Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West) has arranged the events as a chance for residents, charities and businesses to raise issues and meet their local MP in an informal setting.

Five Coffee in the Constituency mornings will take place in August. The local ones will be held at:

*Yeadon Tarn Activity Centre from 10am to 11.30am on Friday, August 10

*Otley Labour Rooms from 10am to 11.30am on Tuesday, August 21

*Bramhope Robert Craven Hall between 10am and 11.30am on Thursday, August 23.

Those attending are being invited to bring food donations as part of a constituency campaign to support Otley Food Bank*.

Mr Sobel, who is also continuing his regular drop-in and private surgeries during the Parliamentary summer break, said: "I want to take this opportunity of being solely in the constituency over summer and use it to catch up with the local communities and hear their ideas for the upcoming year, whether that be about national issues or local campaigns in the constituency.

"I am always seeking to represent my constituency as best I can in Parliament, and being back in the community for these coming weeks will give me the opportunity to look over my work so far and see how I can advance the needs of my constituents at a national level."

*The request for donations comes after a School Holidays Bill, which would have provided free meals and activities to children during the school holidays and was supported by Mr Sobel, was defeated in Parliament.

The MP says that in Leeds North West, where 12.5 per cent of children access free school meals during term time, Otley Food Bank is one of the few local services that offer families access to free food.
