GROOVY Happening is welcoming back Keighley band Black Horse Fairy to headline their August 4 night in Haworth.

Groovy spokesman Ann Wiles said there would be brilliant live music to appeal to everyone, from Black Horse Fairy, Rocksalt Acoustic, Rafael and Awkward.

She said Black Horse Fairy would as usual perform songs of loss and love and the universe.

She said: “Their music, sweetly alluring, at times heavy and strange, moves and turns and cajoles you into a world of ghosts and memories and magic. The poetic lyrics will haunt you.”

Singer Yvonne Gilson said she was excited to be playing the Happening as the band would perform their album Riverrun almost in its entirety.

Ann said: “This means that, from the first song of the set to the last, she will be singing of the strange journey she went on after they lost their beloved Archie Blackwell so suddenly.”

Archie was the pseudonym for Yvonne's partner, veteran Keighley musician Ashley Cartwright.

Also taking to the stage will be RockSalt Acoustic, made up of Siân Levy (vocals), Tony Levy (guitar and vocals) and Laurie Reader (bass and vocals).

Ann said: “RockSalt play some covers and original music, and promise an entertaining performance with fun, humour, banter and choruses!”

Also playing will be Rafael, well-known as a talented guitarist and busker on Main Street.

Ann added: “He plays a wide variety of songs from George Harrison to Katy Perry to Gershwin. From pop to blues, this is a song mix with a personal touch!

“Awkward are a group of hard rocking amigos from Keighley who have been brought together by Jam On Top Studios. “

Groovy Happening is upstairs at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, from Saturday, August 4 at 7.30pm. Admission is £3. Raffle for Manorlands.
