BARNARDO’S is asking people to put the kettle on and gather their family and friends for a Royal Afternoon Tea Party to help change children’s lives.
The event aims to give people the chance to celebrate this year's royal occasions - including the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19 - while raising vital funds. The charity will use the money to support local children, including those who have suffered abuse, those who are disabled and those who care for a sick or disabled relative.
The charity has launched a step-by-step guide on how to host a tea party fit for kings and queens of all ages, complete with fundraising ideas and Royal-themed quizzes and games.
Russell Delew, Barnardo’s Director of Fundraising, said: "We’re all incredibly excited about the Royal Wedding and are keen to offer a way for everyone to mark the occasion and support our charity at the same time.
"We’d love to see lots of people getting involved and hosting a tea party at their home or at their favourite local cafe or at their place of work throughout May. It promises to be a lot of fun, with the money raised making a dramatic difference to the lives of many of the children and young people that we support."
