PLUMHALL will return to their regular Appletreewick venue on January 13 with a headline performer postponed from last autumn.

They’ll introduce singer-songwriter Reg Meuross as he makes his debut at the Cruck Barn next to the Craven Arms.

Plumhall, alias Michelle Plum and Nick Hall, are popular performers in Keighley and Haworth, and regularly organise gigs at Cruck Hall.

As a duo they last year performed at Manchester Bridgewater Hall and the London Palladium as guests of Al Stewart, wrote songs for feature film The Runaways, and picked up a songwriting award.

On January 13 Plumhall will play an opening set before clearing the stage for Reg, who will draw on the venue’s full acoustic potential by singing and playing into one vintage microphone.

Reg started out in the 80s as one of the highly-acclaimed Panic Brothers and has been highly-praised by The Who legend Pete Townsend.

Pete said: “Reg sings in the neutral accent of an Englishman who travels the entirety of the British Isles, and tastes all its flavours, influenced by all its most profound national colours.

“In this he reminds one of Roy Harper or Ewan McColl, recent greats who went before him.”

Reg’s beautiful, literate and meaningful songs have taken him from village halls to the Royal Albert Hall, where Mike Harding introduced him as one of the finest singer-songwriters this country has produced.

Reg, who is based in Somerset, is said to represent contemporary folk writing at its best, with a rare gift of being able to touch people through his songs and performance on a really human level.

The Appletreewick concert is part of the Reg Meuross Two Albums Tour, encompassing two album releases, Faraway People and Songs About A Train.

A spokesman said: “These songs comment bravely on life as he sees it, bringing wide-ranging stories, from the ravages of austerity and the injustice of the plight of refugees to some of most beautifully disarming lyrics ever written.

“Reg consistently entrances his audiences with songs of life, love and injustice, soulfully delivered with melodic tenor vocals and exemplary guitar playing.”

Plumhall features Michelle Plum, who is an ex-member of Chumbawamba and Waking The Witch, and currently tours the arenas of the world as a session musician.

Her bandmate Nick Hall is a member of acclaimed folk-rock heroes, The Hall Brothers, and has toured the world as a session musician.
