TOM Adams secured the Yorkshire Fell Running title at Kettlewell on Sunday.

He finished fourth in the final English Championship race of the season, but was the first White Rose runner to cross the line in 30min 02sec.

In a tight finish, clubmate Jack Wood was 16 seconds behind Adams in seventh place.

Steve Turland finished 92nd as Ilkley Harriers were fourth in the men's team event.

The English Champioinship race was won by Rossendale's Sam Tosh in 29.25.

7 Jack Wood 30:18, 92 Steve Turland 37:55.

Three Harriers took part in the Leeds Golden Mile event on Saturday.

The annual event is a series of timed mile runs around the track at Leeds Beckett University at 15-minute intervals.

Times were: Sally Armitage 6.11.5, Geoff Howard 6.29.4 and Petra Bijsterveld 7.22.2s.

Brian Melia took part in the Ultra Tour Monta Rosa which is a 170km race with 12,000m of ascent.

It starts at Grachen in Switzerland with steep climbs over extremely big mountains with a new 494m suspension bridge and glaciers to cross.

There are also narrow balcony paths on steep ground to negotiate and snow to contend with, too.

Lots of runners had to retire from the race but Melia managed to complete the full route in13th position overall.
