RESIDENTS at Straven House care home in Ilkley welcomed family and friends to celebrate Burns Night.
Celebrations started with an afternoon of poetry reading followed by a Scottish Quiz which was won by Joyce Micklethwaite, who celebrated her 82nd birthday with a huge cake the following day.
After an exciting afternoon, residents tucked into some traditional shortbread with afternoon tea.
Andrea Pearson, Home Manager at Bupa’s Straven House care home, said: “We have a lot of fun at Straven House, organising great events for both staff and residents to enjoy, along with their families.
“After a busy December it’s great to keep the momentum going in January and lift spirits with activities on a Scottish theme.
“To end the evening, residents toasted the great poet and sang along to Auld Lang Syne.”
