GIRLINGTON had to hold their nerve in a thrilling Group A clash against Bradford Gymkhana in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League.

Second-placed Girlington scored 215-8, Kamran Mir hitting 74 and Zahid Khaliq 52 as Nazam Hussain took 3-69.

The game looked up for Gymkhana when they were 133-9 but No 11 Nazam Hussain (52) shared a stand of 81 with Basharat Hussain, only for them to fall one run short with one ball left.

Rizwan Ali's 61 not out guided leaders Omars (135-7) to a three-wicket victory over Salem Athletic, despite Majid Ur Rehman's 5-25. Salem made 133 (Mohammed Siraj 54).

Apperley Bridge beat Hallfield by 43 runs in a low-scoring game on a lively wicket which suited the bowlers.

Hallfield elected to field and Bridge were all out for 94 (Hassan Zeb 25, Mohammed Akif 20, Ahmed Faraz Mirza 3-8) in 32.2 overs.

In reply, Hallfield could only muster 51 (Kabir Hussain 25, Salman Khawaja 4-13, Zaka Ullah 3-30) in 14.3 overs.

Amjad Malik's 5-7 put Great Horton Church in charge against beat Bradford Moor, who were dismissed for 65, Church winning by six wickets, while Zubair Imtiaz (4-15) was in form for VVS Laxman (136), who bowled out Interlink for 82.

Parkside met Great Horton Church B in a top-of-the-table clash in Group B, with Church (122-5, Aaqib Hussain 50) winning by five wickets after dismissing Parkside for 120.

At the other end of the division, bottom club Bowling Baptists lost by 41 runs to Cambing, who made 210-9 (Mohammed Zama Khan 78) and restricted the basement boys to 169 (Akhtar Mahmood 72).

Girlington B, just above Baptists, were shot out for 40 (Sohail Khushal 5-5) by Bradford Gymkhana B, who won by ten wickets, while another quick match was that between Yorkshire LPS and Salem Athletic B.

Salem, sent in, were all out for 42, Pradip Patel and Bhavin Patel taking three wickets each, and LPS then made 45-2.

Third-placed Allerton gained a winning draw against Cross Roads & Daisy Hill.

Allerton made 195-4, led by brothers Nabeel (77) and Rab Nawaz (42), Daisy Hill coming perilously close on 193-4 (Ian Clayton 42no).

In Group C, Greenfield maintained their lead after beating Hallfield by 18 runs.

Greenfield scored 195-8 (Mazhar Iqbal 75), Hallfield making 177 (Ebrahim Mutvalli 53).

Another close match was that between Bowling Baptists B and Cambing B, with the former making 125 and Cambing B 113 (Usman Mirza 63, Paris Thompson 4-23), the contest possibly being decided because a Cambing batsman had to retire hurt.

Yorkshire Friends easily passed the target set them by Great Horton Meths, who made 141 (Dan Jackson 38, Amir Saeed 4-51) in 38.5 overs, Friends replying with 142-2 in 26.2 overs, Rizwan Hamid (73no) and Ajmal Farook (55no) sharing an unbroken stand of 133.

Bottom club Yorkshire LPS opted to bowl against Mayfield, who made 185-7 (Nuzakat Ali 68no, Muhammad Faisel 46no), recovering from 68-6 and scoring 65 in the final seven overs after Niral Patel and Arshad Rana had taken three wickets each.

LPS, who were 19-2, then scored 176-6 after Sonny Patel (56) and Ashish Rana (70) put on 135 for the third wicket, John Farr (3-36) dismissing Patel and a team-mate in successive balls to swing the game back Mayfield's way.

Faisel then took a great catch to remove Rana, and LPS needed 12 off the last over, Sajad Ahmed only conceding two runs to secure a winning draw.

West Bowling have dropped into the relegation zone after losing to Mandhata.

Bowling made 170-6, openers Chris Carter (69) and Joe A'Herne (42) putting on 129.

That was bettered, however, by Mandhata openers Pritesh Patel (85) and Gaurav Patel (70no), who had a partnership of 141 in their 174-2.

In Group D, Mayfield B stay top after defeating Allerton B by six wickets.

Allerton B were all out for 127 (Colin Dunn 4-51), Paul Cuthbertson (77no) guiding Mayfield B to 131-4.

Greenfield (138-9) are second after beating Bradford Indians (137-7) by one wicket, reaching their target in 32.2 overs, while Muff Field A (105-3) defeated Buttershaw St Paul's (102, Mick Chubb 45) by seven wickets.

Great Hoton Meths (96-8) notched their first win of the season, passing Central YMCA's 95-8 with four balls left.

TABS and Muff Field B made similar totals, TABS being all out for 98 (Qazim Ali 4-11) before restricting Muff Field B to 90-8.
