THE LATEST heritage blue plaque to go up in Addingham marks the former home of the man who founded the village's saw mill in the mid-19th Century.
Addingham Civic Society has unveiled the plaque at Low House in Saw Mill Lane, the former home of William Brear.
Addingham Saw Mill became a very successful family-run businesses for 150 years.
Not only did William start the mill but he was a member of Addingham Parish Council, which members of the Brear family served on for more than a century. William was additionally a long and active supporter of Mount Hermon Chapel.
One of William's great granddaughters, Margaret Brear, said: "The family wanted the plaque to recognise William's significant contribution to the village."
Addingham Civic Society chairman, Jim Robinson, added: "William's plaque is very deserved and this brings our total in the village to four. A big thank-you must go to the parish council for its support."
