WHAT a grand opening we have had here at Ilkley Cinema, the air of the faded Trav music remains a hazy memory as you step up those all too familiar stairs.

In the first month and a half alone we have celebrated sell out screenings of the latest action packed James Bond movie Spectre and Alan Bennett’s classic The Lady in the Van. We could never have imagined how much of a success we’d be so quickly.

To end the year on a high, we have a second week running of possibly the most highly anticipated event of the millennium. Star Wars: The Force Awakens pulls at the heart strings of die hard fans and newbies alike and is potentially looking to be the highest grossing movie of all time. You can’t beat those odds, so book tickets before the curse of the spoilers reach your ears. Also, for the little and big kids out there, we have the latest Pixar film The Good Dinosaur. So pop in from the winter chills and snuggle into the sofas, we’ll make sure the popcorn is nice and warm.

The beginning of 2016 is shaping up to be fabulous here at Ilkley Cinema. On the way we have Cold War drama based on real life events, Bridge of Spies starring the lovable, diverse Tom Hanks. We also have the aching romance Carol, set in 1950’s New York. With a dusting of Oscar buzz for the film itself and lead actress Cate Blanchett, this is a love story you certainly cannot afford to miss. Finally no line-up would be complete without a film for the kids, so that is exactly what we have in Dreamworks sequel Hotel Transylvania 2. So if there is a spare moment in between playing with the new Christmas gadgets, come on down to the cinema before the little ones go back to school. The listings for the start of the new year are available to book on the Ilkley Cinema website.

From the bottom of our cinematic reels here at Ilkley Cinema, we would like to thank you for such a spectacular start to the business. From all of us, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
