LABOUR’S local Parliamentary candidate has hailed a city council scheme to get free Wi-fi into public buildings in Otley and Yeadon.
Leeds City Council is currently rolling out free internet access at more than 100 libraries, children’s centres, museums, one-stop centres and art galleries.
Councillor Alex Sobel (Lab, Moortown), who will stand against MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) in May’s General Election, said: “More and more services are offered online.
“People who can’t access the internet often get left out. We all need online access to take a full part in modern society. I’m delighted the Wi-fi scheme reaches across the whole area served by Leeds.
“It means anyone can get online, even if they have no Internet at home.”
