INCOMMUNITIES has jumped 103 places to 59th in the Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index for 2015.

The housing group is the most improved employer to be named among the top 100 places for lesbian, gay and bisexual people to work.

Incommunities was ranked the sixth highest rated housing association in the index.

Incommunities is committed to promoting equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff and has an active staff and customer group, employee policies and training resources to promote an inclusive workplace.

Greg Robinson, Incommunities’ assistant chief executive, resources and a Stonewall Diversity Champion, said: “I’m really made up with this result. Making the top 60 is a fantastic achievement that shows we have made real progress in supporting lesbian, gay and bisexual staff and encouraging inclusivity across the organisation.

“As an organisation we are committed to taking a proactive approach to promoting equality and diversity both within the workforce and in delivering our customer services.”

Simon Feeke, Stonewall’s director of workplace programmes said: “Incommunities and every single employer who secured a position on the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2015 list performed remarkably this year.

“Competition has never been fiercer and the new criteria this year has pushed all of the Top 100 to work harder than ever before.”

The Workplace Equality Index measures ten criteria including employee policy, training, career development and community engagement.

A total of 397 organisations entered the index and more than 50,000 employees took part in its staff feedback exercise towards drawing up the final rankings.
