MP Philip Davies has urged ministers to ensure jobcentres back job fairs organised by MPs to help people back into work.
The Shipley constituency MP held a jobs fair in November which saw businesses and organisations come together with 300 vacancies on offer.
Employment minister Esther McVey praised Mr Davies’s efforts to get people into work as she told him in the year to September 2014 figures from the Office of National Statistics showed employment rose by 6,500 in Shipley Constituency, and nearly 30,000 in Yorkshire.
Mr Davies said he will continue to do everything in his power to create more job opportunities in the area and bring business and get people into work.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics reported a drop of 59 fewer people claiming Jobseekers’ allowance in the Shipley constituency compared to last month.
