A TEAM of Year 6 pupils from Ashlands Primary School in Ilkley has won the Primary Maths Challenge held at Ilkley Grammar School.

Seven other teams from local primary schools were there to compete and test their mathematical skills in the annual challenge.

There were three rounds that involved problem-solving, logic and finally a speed round. With lots of amazing maths skills on show, the scores were extremely close throughout the afternoon, with Ashlands finally taking the victory, over second-placed Sacred Heart Primary School.

Ashlands head teacher Andrew Soutar said: “The whole team worked brilliantly; it was very special to see how proud and excited they were to have represented the school and won.

“It reflects their hard work and the support that they get from school and their families. Well done.”
