Bradford Council figures in the top five of councils in Yorkshire and Humberside for household waste recycling.
Recently released government figures show that Bradford, at 51.85 per cent, is one of the top recyclers in the region.
Bradford Council’s executive member for environment, sport & sustainability, Coun Andrew Thornton, said: “This is terrific news and testament to all the hard work that has been put in by our waste and recycling teams to divert waste from landfill.
“The gradual roll-out of fortnightly recycling rounds and the inclusion of plastic bottles in the recycling bins will only help increase our overall rates in the future.”
The figures have been published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
