Two conmen have been jailed after cheating a pensioner out of £15,000.
Kasim Mughal posed as a police officer and tricked his victim into handing over the money to Darren Walker as part of a supposed sting to catch conmen. Mughal also used the pensioner’s details to order electronic equipment.
Mughal, 29, of Park Road, Yeadon, pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to three offences of fraud and two offences of impersonating a police officer. He was jailed for three years.
Walker, 39, of Victoria Close, Horsforth, also pleaded guilty to three offences of fraud and was sentenced to two years in jail.
The court heard the pair had committed a series of scams against several people.
