Successful Indian restaurant chain Aagrah hopes to bring its award-winning cuisine to Ilkley by March 2013.

The restaurant’s planning application to take up residence at The Green Health Shop in the Moors Shopping Centre, Ilkley, is being considered by Bradford Council planning committee.

The application was submitted on October 11 and involved a change-of-use request from a retail unit to a restaurant.

The company hopes the Ilkley branch will join in the success of its string of restaurants in the region including its first one, which it opened in Shipley in 1977.

Managing director and chief executive Mohammed Aslam, said: “We are hoping to be open by mid-March, at the latest. We totally believe that Ilkley is about quality rather than quantity, and it is very close to my heart. We will bring fine dining at affordable prices.

“We already have a lot of Ilkley customers who visit our Shipley and Pudsey restaurants. I’m really looking forward it and am relieved that we are at last going to be coming to Ilkley.”

The restaurant was one of four restaurants chosen by the public in October to represent the Bradford district when battling to retain its title of Curry Capital of Britain, which it did.

A decision is expected to be made by December 20.
