These are exciting times for the Dunwell Brothers Band.

After gigging extensively in their first year as a band at festivals as far apart as Paris and Edinburgh they are now lined up for the Triumph Live festival in September.

There they will support the Stranglers and Mumford and Sons.

This will be followed by the launch of their first EP in October.

This local band won the right to play at Triumph Live when they took part in a secret gig last Thursday.

The band first had to win their way through 70 bands in an online battle of the bands before being invited to the secret gig at the Triumph motorcycle factory in Leicestershire.

They were one of seven bands battling for three places on the support line-up at Triumph Live to be staged at Mallory Park racetrack on Saturday, September 18. The band played an extremely tight set to bag a place at the Triumph big day which will celebrate 20 years since the re-launch of the Triumph brand.

The event will be hosted by Suzi Perry and will include motorcycle racing, a preview of Triumph’s 2011 bikes and clothing, stunt riding and Triumph factory visits.

The band’s lead guitarist Dave Hanson, from Pudsey, said: “It will be a great privilege to play alongside the Stranglers, who are fresh from their UK tour and a great Glastonbury performance, and Mumford and Sons, who are the Radio 1 festival band of the year.”

The Dunwell Brothers Band celebrated their first year as a band on Sunday when they played at the Little Heroes event at Bingley Cricket Club, pictured.

What a year it has been. They have played the Hop Farm Festival in Kent alongside Bob Dylan, the Fete de la Musique in Paris and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They have gigged heavily in London and taken in a host of Yorkshire festivals, many for charity.

The band is made up of former Menston St Mary’s pupils David and Joseph Dunwell from Pudsey, drummer/vocalist Jonny Lamb from Yeadon, lead guitarist Dave Hanson, from Pudsey, and double-bass player Lee Dawson from Brighouse.

The band will launch their first EP on October 11 following a launch party at the Wardrobe in Leeds on Saturday, October 9. Tickets for this event are £12, which includes a limited edition EP. Tickets are available at wegottickets.com.
