ACTRESS and dance teacher Kara Mottram is preparing to take on the title role in the Yeadon Charities Association production of Cinderella whilst also running her own dance school.

Kara started dancing at the age of two and first appeared in Yeadon panto when she was just eight years old.

After her first appearance in Aladdin as a sunbeam, she regularly appeared in the panto before training at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in London.

She then went overseas to perform professionally in the Costa Del Sol, Kos, Ibiza and Rhodes as well as appearing for Fame Factory Spotlight Pantomimes Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast playing the lead role of Belle.

Since returning to Leeds, Kara has appeared in two pantomimes and taken major roles in Legally Blonde, The Carole King Songbook and A Chorus Line - for which she won the award for Best Actress at the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre.

In September this year she fulfilled a longstanding ambition to have her own dance school and pass on the passion and skills she has learnt throughout her years dancing and performing.

After teaching BabyBallet in the local area she put her name to KM Academy of Dance, based in Horsforth.

In January she will fulfill yet another ambition, playing the role of Cinderella at Yeadon Town Hall.

She said she could not wait to portray the girl who really does go from rags to riches in one of the world’s most-loved tales.

She added: “It promises to be a really magical show and I am delighted to be playing the role of Cinderella.”

Tickets for Cinderella are on sale now with prices ranging from £8 to £15 with family tickets also available. Performances take place from January 17 to 19 and January 22 to 26, with matinees on all weekend days. Visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/yeadoncharities to book.
