A FESTIVE treat is in store for Yeadon with a Christmas Spectacular at the town hall.

The evening of fun will be staged by local youth theatre company Futurist Theatre Productions from December 19 to December 23.

A spokeswoman for the town hall said: “The show is packed full of festive favourites, with dazzling costumes and choreography making for an unforgettable evening of Christmas cheer.

“Seasonal and year-round hits will be performed - so whether you’re a big fan of chart music or want to sit back and enjoy traditional Christmas carols there’s something for everyone.

Previous years have wowed audiences with a live Nativity, a visit from Father Christmas and of course the very memorable tap dancing penguins.

“The show will star a range of talented local performers. Previous Futurist cast members have gone on to carve successful careers in the arts, including television roles and UK tours. So keep your eye out for future stars in the making.

“As Futurist Theatre Productions is dedicated to providing free theatre training to the local community, junior cast members are given the incredible opportunity to develop their skills alongside some of the town’s most talented performers.”

Director Catherine Moglia said: “Christmas is always such a special time of the year. It’s a time when the whole family comes together - and Futurist really is a family. More experienced cast members showing the younger performers the ropes and seeing the whole production team gel and support one another is fantastic.

“We know locals come along to support the production year after year - it’s becoming something of a Christmas tradition here in Yeadon. So we hope to see familiar faces and brand new audience members when the show comes to Yeadon Town Hall this December.”

Yeadon Town Hall CIC took over the management of the 140-year-old building on April 1 this year.

Since then it has carried out refurbishments and restoration work on key areas of the venue.

In mid April hundreds of people turned out to an open day which launched a new era for the town hall.

The Yeadon Town Hall CIC has appealed to members of the public, as well as corporate sponsors, to support the Restoration 2020 project, which aims to restore the whole building by the end of 2020.
