Ilkley Jazz Festival will bring two headline acts to The Winter Gardens in August. On Friday, August 16 at 7.30pm the multi-award winning Liane Carroll will perform, with support from The Alec Robinson Trio at 6pm.

On Saturday, August 17 at 7.30pm one of the UK’s finest pianists John Donaldson will perform with Hexagonal.

Jazz Main quartet from Edinburgh will appear from 2.30pm, Adrian Knowles’s Sound of 59 (a Sextet of Leeds All Stars) from 4pm and Zoe Gilby performs her Panonica project, inspired by Monk’s music from 6pm .

Liane Carroll has been a pillar of the British jazz and soul scene for over thirty- five years. Her career has seen her tour the world including an appearance at New York’s renowned Jazz at the Lincoln Centre. She was awarded a highly coveted BASCA Gold Badge Award for Services to British Music in 2017, appeared at The Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms in 2016, and has been a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, London for more than 25 years. She has worked with Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty, Long John Baldry, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin, and drum and bass outfit London Elektricity.

Hexagonal is a high energy sextet, with African and Jazz influences, and was formed in late 2016 to perform the music of two titans of Jazz - Bheki Mseleku and McCoy Tyner.
