THE French romantic comedy Let The Sunshine In is Ilkley Film Society’s next screening on Sunday May 12 (8pm at Ilkley Playhouse).

When divorced Parisian artist Isabelle meets a handsome, kind and intelligent younger man she thinks that she has finally found what she has been looking for, only to be told that he feels their affair has been a big mistake.

As her quest continues via former lovers and new encounters, she has to face the challenge of finding a new path to happiness, perhaps one which does not require a Mr Right.

The combination of the great Juliet Binoche in the leading role, the legendary Gerard Depardieu in a scene-stealing appearance, and one of French cinema’s most versatile and consistent directors in Claire Denis (whose latest, the sci-fi High Life has just been released) ensure that this film is far superior to the usual rom-com.

Non-members are welcome as guests (£4) but are asked to phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 to reserve a seat.
