ADDINGHAM Memorial Hall will play host to All Balls and Ashes by Mark Roberts - a “hilarious comedy with a touch of Last of the Summer Wine about it, and a whole lot of Yorkshire charm”.
The play, to be staged next week, centres on three daft old men, played by Phil Johnson, Peter Moon and John Holdsworth, and their attempts to carry out the last wish of Seth “Hot Balls” Hegginbotham.
They promised their cricket mad chum that they would scatter his ashes on the village cricket green, however they soon find themselves on a sticky wicket when Seth’s widow, the fearsome Freda, refuses to give up the remains.
A series of shenanigans and revelations ensue, involving incompetent urn-napping, bizarre rituals, tin hats - and shake n vac.
A spokeswoman said: “Well written and performed with great comedy timing, it is clear that the cast and crew have had great fun bringing to life this truly funny ensemble piece.”
Performances will take place in Addingham Memorial Hall from Tuesday, April 23 to Saturday, April 27 with curtains rising at 7.30pm.
