AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned guitarist will showcase his talents in Otley this month.

Remi Harris, whose influences include jazz, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, funk and world music, will take the stage at Otley Courthouse on Saturday, March 16.

The show is part of his 2019 tour which will see him perform at more than 60 venues in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - along with a festival in the South of France.

Playing on a variety of electric and acoustic guitars plus a ukulele, Remi will be performing with a double bassist and drawing on a repertoire that includes music by Django Reinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and more.

Remi will also be playing new compositions from his anticipated third album.

The guitarist has performed at the BBC Proms, Buckingham Palace, on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show, at Montreal Jazz Festival, and on BBC 4 Television, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3.

Jazz-pop pianist and singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum, who played with Remi on the breakfast show, has hailed him as ‘an incredible guitarist’.

Thirty year old Remi, who was born in Hereford, said: “I’m excited to be back on the road again.

“It’s great to be playing in our favourite venues and visiting new places, we’re so grateful for the audiences who come out and see us year on year.”

Concert-goers, meanwhile, are being promised ‘a spectacular night of virtuoso guitar playing’.

Remi is predominantly self taught, Assisted by his father’s guitar magazines and records, he started playing at the age of seven and was initially inspired by rock and blues guitarists of the 1960s and 1970s.

Then in his late teens he developed an interest in jazz, and in particular artists such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz.
