AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned classical guitarist will give a fundraising performance in Horsforth next month.

Craig Ogden will play at The Grove Methodist Church from 3pm on Sunday, February 17 to raise money for the The Friends of the Leeds Centre for Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.

The charity (which supports Leeds Haematology at St James’ Hospital, Leeds - which has a clinic at Wharfedale Hospital in Otley) is the same one that the Australian-born guitarist played for at The Grove in 2017, when the sold-out event raise more than £1,400.

It is a cause that is close to his heart as his mother died of leukaemia.

Tickets for his February 17 concert cost £10, concessions £8, and can be purchased from MCC Consumables on Town Street, Horsforth; online at ticketsource.co.uk/craig-ogden-grove; or by calling 0333 666 3366.

Craig Ogden studied guitar from the age of seven and percussion from the age of 13, and in 2004 became the youngest instrumentalist to receive a Fellowship Award from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

He regularly appears at major venues with many of the UK’s top artists and ensembles and has performed concertos with all the main UK orchestras, along with many overseas.

Craig presented The Segovia Legacy on BBC Radio 3, with Louis de Bernières, and Ten Pound Pom Mum for BBC Northern Ireland - about his mother’s upbringing there. In 2017 he recorded an album with vocalist Jacqui Dankworth.

Craig is Head of Guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Associate Artist of The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and President of Leeds Symphony Orchestra.
