CHANTEL McGregor will play Otley Courthouse on September 15.
Chantel, popular with audiences at district venues during past performances, is performing as part of a UK tour.
A female guitar prodigy, at 14 Chantel was told by major record labels that she had a “great voice, but girls don’t play guitar like that!”.
Ignoring the comments, she enrolled at the Leeds College of Music and became the first student in the college’s history to achieve a 100 per cent pass mark, with 18 distinctions.
Chantel left with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and the college’s Musician of the Year award.
Chantel stepped out in the pro-musician world and stunning live performances featuring “rock for the new age” coupled with effortless virtuosity.
Early in her career, Chantel was invited to perform with renowned musician Joe Bonamassa on two of his UK tours, then she released her debut album in 2011.
The album Like No Other prompted critics to compare her with Jimi Hendrix and declaring her “a messiah of blues-rock who should be given her own mountain”.
Chantel’s follow up album, Like Control, was released in October 2015 to critical acclaim, with All About Rock magazine praising its Gothic imagery, stand-out tracks, and Chantel’s “amazingly-tight” vocals.
Chantel is currently writing her third album, and will debut some of the new tracks at Otley Courthouse.
She will be performing new songs, reworking tracks from her previous two albums, and playing some rare cover versions.
