AN OTLEY businesswoman has co-written a new guide to being a good leader.

The ten Golden Rules of Leadership is the debut publication by Elizabeth Fox and Martin le Comte, who run a locally based management and leadership consultancy, tendevelopment.

The pair says the book draws on their own personal experiences of the past 20 years and the times when they got it right, and wrong, as leaders.

Elizabeth said: "Throughout our careers we have met and worked with numerous leaders who admitted they had the title of leader but didn’t truly understand what being an effective leader entailed.

"To help people in a similar position we created The ten Golden Rules of Leadership to give them a real understanding of what they need to do to develop, motivate and inspire their people."

The work is packed with hints and practical ways to help the reader demonstrate each of the 'rules', while at the same time explaining why each one is so important to anyone who is managing others.

Martin added: "We hope that by sharing some of our successes, as well as our mistakes, however painful they were for us, we can help people avoid falling into some of the same traps we did."

The ten Golden Rules of Leadership costs £13.99 and is on sale now - for more details visit tendevelopment.com/ .
